Typically, when a patient is in a situation where they have a large area of decay or potentially the tooth is broken or it’s got a fracture, something’s going on with the tooth where a crown would be indicated. Think of a crown as kind of a kind of a helmet or a cap that goes over the entire tooth and it holds the tooth together and it strengthens the tooth and makes it it makes it where the patient’s able to restore their function and their chewing ability and get back to normal. Now if it’s on a molar, again it’s a situation where it’s not not something that’s very easily seen, it’s not something that people really think about much, but when it goes to a front tooth then aesthetics is really a major concern.
So just simply being able to put a crown on a tooth is one thing and that’s going to protect the tooth and strengthen the tooth and provide a better bite and better function, but especially on these front teeth we have to make sure that they’re going to look nice. They have to look nice, they have to function well. So always taking the aesthetics into account is extremely important and that’s exactly what we do here.
